Fantastic! Thanks for sharing. What I want to know is, did she out-fish you? [Smile] I came SO CLOSE to being there yesterday too, but it didn't work out, so I'm jealous! [Sad] Was there plenty of water for launching? I assume they haven't put any docks out yet have they?

All the docks are in the water now, in both the North and
South marinas. The only dock that wasn't in the water a week ago was the one right by the ramp of the North marina. If the water keeps coming up, that last one should be floating in a week or so, if it isn't floating already. WH2

How fast were you trolling?

I went out Saturday afternoon until dark and we didn't catch anything. My brother and his father in law were trying worm harnesses on bottom bouncers and I was trying shad raps and producers on a planer board, but no takers. We were only going .9-1.5 mph. We fished around the island and over by the pig farm. We didn't see a lot of fish on the finder either. Maybe they are schooled up somewhere else.

Thanks for the report fencekid. Short, sweet, and to the point. Those Wipers look like they put on the feed bag!

Sounds like a great time out with your missus! I knew I should have been out to Willard last saturday but things seems to have a priority such as have to be home by 1 pm to go to a family BBQ party in SLC. If it wasn't General Conference weekend (this brings the families out of woodwork when this happens), I would have been out to Willard instead of "said" spot Utah lake...

Great catch Fencekid! I mean the other half...[Wink]

Elkoholic,

For walleyes, that is the correct speed... however since you were using crawler harnesses and all that and no catch. I suspect they are right into the dike's waters or up the canal for spawning purposes. Gotta cast jigs into the dikes. Canal is off-limits.

For wipers, go abit fast like 2.0-3.5 mph, you will be getting into them.

Hope this increases your catch rates.

We were having a bit of an argument over what we were going to fish for. I was cool with what ever would bite but my brother and his father in law wanted the walleye. I thought that with the water being cool the wipers would like a little slower presentation. Until you suggested it I never even thought about the walleyes being in close to the rocks right now. We were trying all the spots we hit durring the summer months. Next time out I will try in close to the rocks.
Thanks for the wake up call.
