I don't usually post my spring and summer trips with my 4 yr. old because we do more goofing and playing than fishing, but I'll make an exception here. We gave mommy some rest this afternoon, and headed over to Lincoln beach. We were at the boat launch. I was hoping to pick up a few crappie for dinner, and Rachel could fish and play safely there without bothering anyone. We arrived a little after 5PM. Rachel tossed out the infamous Barbie pole and caught a couple of mudcats while she maintained interest. I strung up with a jig called a Charlie Bee which is a roadrunner type lure with a small "slider" plastic jig on it. I tipped with a small piece of crawler. Right off, I picked up a modest walleye, then a couple of crappie. Unfortunately, after about 45 minutes, my big fisherwoman informed daddy that she had an intestinal complaint.[
] It was apparent that she wasn't faking it so we started to get ready to leave. On my "last cast", I hooked something bigger. Much bigger. I figured it was a carp or channel cat, but there was something familiar with the style of fight.................[
] To get to the point, it was another eye, a very nice eye! 27 1/4 inches long worth of nice. It was my personal best.[

] Rachel got to hold the pole too as I fought it and as I beached it (what was I thinking), so I guess it is her personal best too. Figuring we had been sufficiently blessed by the angling gods, we left to go home and resolve Rachels problem. Happy to report, she is better now. Whew, what a night.
