Trout at Willard!!!!
#1
Belive it or not I was trolling for wipers at Willard on Mon. morning and caught a 14" Bow just outside of the south marina.
I trolled the southside 100 and 150 yards out and back.. Lots of fish on the fishfinder but no takers.. I was trolling back toward north marina and caught the trout.. Gave up soon after and headed back.. Got there just as the lake filled with whitecaps..[unsure] I was in a small boat.. Fished marina for few mins caught a crappie by one of the boat docks.. Then left for home wind was really bad..
Saw some go out just after I got in.. Saw him almost vertical on the waves of there..[unsure][unsure] Hope he keep his pants clean...[Wink] if you catch my drift..

My son caught a 18 inch brown a few years ago in the channel inlet, so I know there's a few trout in Willard. Too bad the catching wasn't any better for you. WH2

As odd as it sounds, I've seen a couple nice browns come out of there. When the guy first said he'd caugt a couple browns, I thought he was hitting the crack pipe a little too hard, then he lifted his stringer and lo-and-behold, there were a couple of 20+ inch Germans on there! They end up migrating down stream from the Ogden and Weber. I think the bigger browns can hold their own, but the little bows are just fodder for the bigger fish in there.

been there. done that.

It's always strange to catch a species that you'd just never expect to live in the water you're fishing. I caught a brown in the inlet channel two years ago. weird....

I never caught a trout myself but I did see a a nice sized, fungus covered brown swimming along the shore in the inlet about 2 years ago.

I caught a bunch of browns in the inlet at willard, years ago. The browns move into the inlet the best, when the lake warms up, and the water is still flowing in the channel. Somtimes you can see the trout trying to jump up the spill way, to get back into the canal. I usually caught most of them on good old garden hackle.
