I heard friday that the flood gates were closed at the Gorge. I was up there friday, and a strange thing happened around around 1:00 pm. All the macs were were catching(and we caught our fair share of big boys) startred to suspend we were in 80' and within an hour all the fish I graphed were in 25' suspended over 80'. I only caught 1 more mac after that. Called it a day at 5:00. Did anyone else see strange stuff friday?

Well, at least you're in good company, Kent. I also have absolutely no idea what that means.

Thanks, I had read previously that they were going to do that in hopes of improving the habitat for the native fish.

The amount of water that is released out of the gorge,is mandated by the feds.In the spring months as the level in the gorge rises, they release more water to help the endangered specis that are down stream from the dam.The same fish that the feds spent million of dollars to get rid of,back in the early days of the dam. This year the gates were opened more then in the past ,to help the fish ,but to also wash away some of the built up sediment and to wash the mussles down stream.Like Tubedude said about all they really did, was flood out alot of farms downstream.
