Kastmaster and I went up to Rock Cliffs after work today. The water levels look great, the facility improvements are done and look nice, and we both got skunked.[unsure] We were fishing for smallies in our float tubes. On my finder, the water temp was only 56-57 degrees around most of the Rock Cliff area, and in/near the old river channel, it got down to as low as 53 degrees in spots. The bass are likely seeking warmer temps than what was there and more likely headed to warmer parts of the lake. (or/and we didn't have the touch tonight[blush]) There were active trout on the surface for fly anglers, but I didn't have any action with spinners for them either. I think Rock Cliffs will be a lot of fun in a few weeks once the water warms up.
One last thing, the perch do appear to be down a lot. I didn't have any jig tail nibbling perch the whole evening, nor did I see much on the fishfinder. I'm sure the cold water had an effect, but this perch kill last month might really have reduced their numbers quite a bit. We shall see. Tight Lines all.
