Strawberry 6/8 & 9th report
#1
Got to The Strawberry Marina about 1:00 PM on Wednesday. Took awhile to find them in the cold choppy wind, but managed to net and trap about 100 minnows. Headed out fishing about 3:00 PM in a rain storm. It was cold enough to freeze the balls off of a pool table. Tried to fish in the wind and ice-cold rain for about 1 1/2 hours without success and decided to head to our warm room at the marina. Headed out at 6:30 on Thursday. The weather had improved, but the fish weren't biting much better. Tried vertical jigging -- nada -- finally caught three cutts under the slot trolling.

Fishing in the afternoon picked up considerably:

Wow, the bucket biologists are really busy up at the Berry. I've never caught channels, muds, and white up there before.[Wink] Thanks for the report.

That pic of the double looks like the inside of AFBH....I think I can see my honey hole.

Hey Kent,

Just how far down were you trolling for those "cutts" in the photos ?

Jack, I figured with you being down in AZ you wouldn't mind it too much if I kept the cats exercised in your old honey hole!

Consider the honey hole yours [Smile] I haven't got any use for it anymore...but you've got to fish in a little closer and later in the day!

I'm still trying to find my honey hole down here, but I think I'm going to need a boat before I can find one...there's not much to be had in the way of shore fishing.

I'm going out to try for flatheads tomorrow night....I'll post up a pick if I score a big one.

We caught the cutts trolling leaded line (they either didn't like my downrigger or liked my wife better) out about 6 or 7 colors trolling at 2.7 mph.

We caught most of them fishing about 2 feet from shore -- need to be closer than that? As far as fishing later in the day, I consider myself lucky whenever I can get my wife to fish with me, and when she's onboard we typically start fishing later and quit earlier to make up for it.

[cool]Yeah, I forgot that bird island is mostly underwater these days. Maybe you were by American Fork boat harbor?

Is the road open to AF harbor now? I heard it washed out a few weeks back?

The road is still washed out right at the entrance to the marina. A few folks are parking outside and walking in (about 2/3 of the road is washed out).
