Henrys Lake
#1
Henrys Lake is good to super - I fished it Thursday night, Friday for 9 hours and Saturday morning from 5:30 to 7 a.m.

On Thursday I got 9 fish, Friday 46 fish with two between 25 to 26 inches and one giant at 28-1/4 inch. I also got four brook trout between 12 to 13 inches. Then Saturday morning I got 8 fish with the largest at 21 inches. What we are seeing are a lot of two year olds about 15 inches with some 18 inchers - these are mostly cutts. Then we see the large hybrids that have been in the catch the last three years.

In the last three years we have been missing the two and three year olds, so we were catching mostly hybrids - about 3 to 5 per day and that was it. This year we are still catching those 3 to 5 hybrids per day, but now we have the 15 inch cutts to fill our time between those hybrids. This is appealing to more fishermen as they are at least catching something. You still have to search hard for those large hybrids.

The best spot on the lake to catch some fish are in 14 to 17 feet of water off the west side of the lake. I caught most of the large ones off the east side of the lake in 18 feet of water. This is much different from last year.

Best flies have been the California Leech, Beadhead Electric Black, Mity Mouse and Beadhead Gold Olive AH.

By the way - those of you who email me, I only check my mail once each week most weeks. That will be on the weekend as I will stay in Island Park during the week and will only come down when I have two days off or on the weekends.

Good Luck fishing
