Deer Creek & Utah Lake 06/11-12

Deer Creek 06/11
-----------------

Launched at Deer Creek a little after 5 am. Fishing wasn't spectacular, long period of nothing between bites. Picked up 3 smallmouth, 3 bows, 1 brown, and a nice foul hooked carp. Met with bassrods, utbass + friends for a bit for some bass knowledge and some food and won a nice flight in a cesna in a drawing. Should be fun!

UT Lake 06/12
-----------------
Launched at 5:30 AM and worked my way out to the bubble up. I was out for cats today so I stuck my favorite sucker meat below a bobber and cast it out. With in 3 minutes I had my first fish on, a nice 11 lb channel cat. I continued to slay them. I had a total of 22 channel cats, and 1 mud cat by 11 oclock ranging from 4-11 pounds. Great fun. Got rained on pretty bad when I was packing up to leave just after 11 but it was worth it.

Craig, you did great! Also, great ratio of 22 channels to only one mud cat.

No doubt. I was pretty amazed myself, usually can't keep them off the hook. My setup was a hook under a bobber with only 4 foot of leader. Guess keeping it off the bottom is the trick.

[cool]Nice report, Craig. That 11 pounder must have fought pretty well, eh? I've gotta get out to UL pretty soon now that the weather is finally going to cooperate this week. Did you take a pic of that hawg?

Nah, I was playing catch and release and when I have my grip/weigher on him I got a good measure and he started fighting and made his way off, so you're going to have to take my word for it. I did get some shots of a couple nice 8 pounders I kept for table fare. Wink I will post those along with the wierd weather photos.
