Laws second Tube adventure
#1
Well here goes. went to the same spot, LBH. yesterday evening. had a hard time launching on those sharp rocks. I Coulen't get my flippers on. Prior to that, I inverted my chest waders cause I knew I had a hole in the the last time I went out (MISTAKE NUMBER 1) found out had more holes that way!

Kicked around for a bit while getting soaked.... realized I still had my 2-way radio, but then realized (MISTAKE NUMBER 2) I lost my wedding ring!!!

Gave up after an hour of kicking around, just using a worm.
(MISTKE NUMBER 3) Could not get flippers off!!! After 20 minutes of fighting them I finally prevaild.
Draind the water from the tube, draind the water from the wadders, tied tube in truck, got raind on, lost ring, wadders are shot, got skunked, and im soaked.

Another great day of tubing with Law.[pirate][unsure]

That sounds like some of the days I've had - but, I keep volunteering to do it again for some reason. I imagine you will too. Bummer about the ring - that has possible "outside of fishing" repercussions.

I had a first posting on here of what happend the last time I went out... I think TubeDude is right.. There is a Murphys law and there is now a Marshalls Law that applies to fishing...LOL

Im sure that [url "http://www.bigfishtackle.com/cgi-bin/gforum/gforum.cgi?username=svpdgcar;"][#000000][size 1]svpdgcar [/size][/#000000][/url] is gonna get a kick outta this.

ML, I certainly don't want to make light of the situation, but you have the worst luck! By the sounds of it, you might be better suited for the comedy circuit (at least you'd make money for your efforts)
[Wink]
I'd offer to take you out on the boat, but I'd probably end up having to throw you a life ring, activating the bilge pump frequently, and tieing everything down that might end up over the side, plus we wouldn't catch any fish!
[Wink]
I admire you for your persistance and desire to keep plodding ahead, when many folks would have just thrown in the towel, your adventures will reward you with big fish - young grasshoppa!

[cool]Damn, Law! You need some help, man! Next time out you'd better go with TubeDude to show you the ropes of proper tubing. My expertise is pale in comparison to his, but maybe I could help as well. First off, you need some new waders, my friend! Next, why are you launching off the rocks? For a beginner, I'd recommend launching off the boat ramp in the harbor (there's some good fishing to be had in the harbor anyway, if there's not a million powerboats launching at one time to spook them, that is). Seriously, you've got to hook up with one (or a bunch) of us on the next floatilla. Good luck next trip out, bro.

As far as the wadders go, I knew I hade the one leake... I hung them and filled them with water and found it. Fixed it, then headed out on the first expedition... However, I did not fill and find the others before heading out again... DOH!!!!!!

A friend of mine gave them to me about 5-6 years ago, and thats when I discovered the first leak and patched.... haven't used them untill now....
Trust me I'm not giving up. I love the challenge in all aspects.

As far as being in a boat... I go with my cousin alot, and trust me, no problems there.. In fact I told him "I'm doomed to land and a sturdy boat." GOOO

The Law must go on....LOL

[#505000]You're right I did get a kick out of it!! [cool] Unfortunately I wish it wasn't at the expense of your wedding ring. [unsure] I'm sure Mrs Law was tickled pink to hear about that!!! [pirate] I have your number and as soon as my schedule turns "normal" in two weeks I'll give you a call and we can tube and catch some fish, followed by cleaning some fish. Heck maybe we can even talk Tubedude into showing up. [/#505000]

I can sympathize, but then again I can't. I had the same type of day, got all cut up by some poison oak stuff Sunday got rained on, and jumped into the Jordan river to make sure I didn't lose the 5 to 6 lb Catfish I had on. Which luckily I did not, because this particular catfish just happened to be a stick!

Now I'm bleedin, itching I stink, got skunked and am late for work! Sadly enough this has been pretty typical of every single day fishing this year. I fish about 6 days a week, and have yet to catch one fish. Not one!! [pirate]

So in conclusion, I feel bad for yah about the ring man, I do; but if it were me; that cat you caught a couple days back would look like a mighty fine trade right about now...

Skunked again, thats my life story!! [crazy]

Oouch - 6 days a week and you've been skunked all year so far - bummer ! I also fish a lot during the week - I am self/under-employed currently. So, maybe we should hook up and go get your skunk off. hopefully the Jordan River is not the only place you fish - there are a lot of better places to get the skunk off - without smelling like the Jordan River water - next time just cut your line instead of getting in that water.

If you have any idea at all where you lost your wedding ring, and if it contains any iron, you should consider purchasing a magnet from Harbor Freight and searching for it. Obvious advice, but I always leave my rings home when I go fishing and I haven't lost one yet while fishing.

That's brutal! I heard about your mishaps from another source. Although, she didn't mention half the stuff that happened to you. She was just kind of shaking her head and laughing.

If it ever warms up, you won't need the waders in Utah Lake. Fishing wet can be rather refreshing, except when a carp decides it wants to brush up against your leg . . . Scares the snot out of me every time.

Later!

I had a similar experience with my wedding ring a few years back. I was icefishing Causey and while pulling a fish out of the ice the ring slipped all the way to the end of my finger. Luckily I caught it before going down the hole. So I stuck it in my pocket. When I got home, it was gone. My wife had an absolute OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCE. We, (she decided for me), decided to take a ride up the next day to see if I could find it anywhere. I parked next to where I parked the day before and started checking the ground. I had placed the ring in the same pocket as my keys and I was hoping that it fell out when I took the keys out of my pocket. Well you can call me a lucky man, because there it was lying in the snow. Someone had stepped on it and pushed it down, (probably me), but it was still there. My wife gave me the "look", you all know what I'm talking about. Now my wedding ring does not go out of the house if I'm going fishing, hunting or anywhere outdoor related.

I hope you can find it, I know what you're going through right now.
