U Lake, American Fork area. 6/15
#1
[black]A good and trusted friend of mine told me of his trip to Utah Lake around the American Fork Boat Harbor on Tues evening. “Fifty white bass in two hours,” he says. “Everybody was catching them like that!”[/black]
[black]Yesterday I left work a bit early grabbed my gear and a sandwich, got in his car and off we went. 50 fish – I’m all fired up!![/black]
[black]The boat harbor is still closed from the flood but we parked near the entrance and waded out to the inlet. [/black]
[black]I tied on one of my homemade spinners, threw it out and started cranking. [/black]
[black]First cast – BAM! A respectable whitie! (This is going to be good.) My first white bass must be returned to the lake to protect my fishing karma and appease the water gods. Besides I’ll be cranking them in every other cast or so, right?[/black]
[black]Then, nothing for about an hour. Different homemade spinner, and one more bass. (Kept it for bait on a future trip)[/black]
[black]I’d been looking around at the crowd and not many other people were catching fish. (We did see a few Walleye come in though) They were all using jig set-ups so I stuck with my spinners. I got a few more bumps but no more hook-ups.[/black]
[black]All he had to say for himself was, “I swear to God it was like that yesterday. I don’t know what happened to turn them off. I mean, everybody was slaying them. You don’t think I would make that up and then be willing to come out with you the next day and get skunked do you?”[/black]
[black]Yes I do.[/black]

That's my luck as well. Always seem to be a day late to "kill them". Oh well. It's still fun to get out.
