Well got up there at 230pm wife had to work the morning. As i pulled up there was 2 freinds of mine fishing they had just got there 5 minutes before we did. Then Fishinglever pulled up.Talked to him for a bit .He told me he was camping out at huntington the night before.Said he had no luck with the tigers.Uusally with those tigers i only have luck early in the morning or in the evenings.Well my friends were using worms with power bait on a treble hook and they caught their limit in a couple of hours. Also we both stocked up with red shiners .Man they were all over the place!Got this summers supply.Bruce caught the first 3 fish of the day and one of them was a nice one.Looked like a brown but i dont know for sure.Have never caught one before so not sure exactly what they look like.Sam got into the action a bit later also and the wife was tired from work so she slept most of the time.I jigged my red and white spoon and caught 5 but released 3 too small. We ended up taking home 12 fish and releasing a bunch of 12" inchers and smaller.Wind was bad at times but the temp was just right.Got a little chilly in the evening but not really sweater weather.Right before we left this boat puled in from fishing and they had said they had some success. It turned out to be one of fuzzys freinds. He was wondering what i was catching the fish with and i told hm the bigger ones took the minnows. He was curious as to how i was catching them so i told him.I ended up giving him 2 gallon size freezer bags full on minnowssince i had so many. But i replaced them in less than 5 minutes! Can anyone tell if the fish my son has is a brown?

Sure wish that I was getting those red shiners instead of all of those plain chubs that I am getting from Strawberry. I have found that the fish prefer red shiners. Red shiners are few and far between at Strawberry -- apparently the cutts have made a serious dent in them.

I've never been called fishinglever before but whatever works I guess. It was nice meeting Ocean and his great family. What a nice bunch of people.

The night before meeting Ocean and fam at Electric Lake I stayed over at Huntington. Only caught one tiger that night but the next morning I brought in 8 or 9 average tigers. I was fishing with worms and minnows and then had a guy plop down on shore by me and he shared some trout eggs with me that caught several more tigers. The best catch of the day was a double. I had two hooks on one pole and caught two fish at the same time. I made for an interesting fight and a monster knot.

At Electric Lake I caught 5 cuts using minnows and took a nice nap while fishing. I haven't done that in a while because I am normally so busy watching my pole.

Just a word of advice while fishing with Ocean and family. Beware because his son is always packing a weapon. He never once was without his plastic sword.

I have included some pictures. One is of my double which includes the fish I named stumpy. He was as wide as the other fish but a good couple inches shorter. Another picture is of the glass(water) early morning at Huntington. The last picture is at Electric lake with the beautiful weather and Ocean and friends.

Hey Ocean,

I've forgotten. Do you use a net or a minnow trap to catch your minnows? If it's a trap, what type of trap do you use, and what do you use as bait for the minnows in the trap?

Good to see you having a nice day with your family.

Thanks for your help.

Ocean,

From the look of the pic,s those do look like Brownies.... I grew up catching them in Hobble creek.
To my knowledge, they don't plant Browns anymore because of there carnivous tendencies. I think there is a BFT member on here who has a nice pic of the Loch Laven (German Brown) as his SIG.
All brown caught now are all native. I could be wrong, and maybe TD could shed light on this.

If you want to catch a samll brown to see what they look like, head up springville/Mapelton canyon and go to the cherry camp ground (right hand fork in the road after the golf course). Use a 1/4 ounce black rooster-tail with a silver spoon (Slaughter you will young Jedi[sly]).
There are planter Bows in there too, but the Browns love that rooster-tail more than the bow's.

Yeah, Marshall, I have one as my little pic on posts. The very last fish in his pictures closest to him looks like a nice yellowed up brown. There is one pic of a fish that he's holding up that looks like a gorgeous cut..... or bow... I used to fish Hobble Creek all the time when I lived in Provo.... That and Diamond Fork. THats cool that you grew up fishing down there... I haven't been to either place since early spring but I've always wanted to fish electric lake too.... is it that small the whole way around?? Is the lake just really kinda narrow and long??

Didnt this lake get drained some time ago? I had no idea it was full again. I havent benn there in 16 years and I dont even remember where the heck it is. Nor do I remember where huntington is. I do remember catching a bunch of fish then. That had been one of my first attempts at fishing ever. I was 12 years old and spent all my allowance on a pole and a few basics. My dad was Angry as could be. He told me I was wasting my money and I didnt know what I was doing, there was some truth to the not knowing part though. I wasent sure how to rig it and tie it.So I asked my dad to drive me to the lake since we were camping nearby in our new tent trailer and he said no way! You can walk. So I did! about 2 hrs later he comes driving by as Im walking back from electric lake with 8 trout in my bag. Thats when I asked him if we can go up the road to another lake that a fisherman told me about with tiger trout. Is that huntington? Anyways lots of memories at those 2 lakes. If anyone can tell me how to get there that would be great.

E-lake is located at fairview canyon.Real easy to find and huntington too. And yes its full of fish as many as you can catch![laugh] But remember the limit is 4! [Wink] You can get there by going through spanish fork canyon then taking the fairview exit and going south and when you reach fairview go up the canyon you cant miss it. E-lake is one of my favorite places to go in the summer temps are good and not many people there crowding you. Also plenty of places to campout by the water. Hope this helps.

Oceans directions are pretty close, you can stop at big pine sports at the mouth of fariview canyon and talk to todd he will be able to tell you what baits are working and where the fishing is good, if this board isnt up to date. The road up the canyon is between walkers and fred and audries.

hey ocean nice report.. the fish your asking about could be a brown.. there was alot of browns in the river befor the dam was made.. but the DWR tryed for years the wipe them out by going up during the spawn and netting all the browns they could and removing them from the lake.. which is realy Sad because i think the browns would do alot better in there than them stinking yellowstone cutt't they got in there that wont grow for any thing.. the rainbows comeing out of boulger are doing realy well in E-lake when they get there.. to bad the DWR is not up on things there and at lest make a effort to improve the fishery by putting a fish in that at lest has a chance of getting some size to it!!
i was talking the the head guy at the fountain green hatchery about 2 months ago he said that the DWR have not even checked the lake in 8 years and had no planes on any plants in the future.. but hey look at it this way the pepole that fish yellowstone well profit from it because as he was talking to me i found out that most all of the egg's that they harvest are going to there..
ant that nice we get to suffer small fish in a lake they wont grow in so yellowstone can have a fresh suply of our fish... that is why the DWR was trying to get the browns out so they would not eat so many of the egg's of the Cutt's the DWR are saleing to other states..

by the way dude i have fished E-lake from the fist day it opend to fishing and have never cought a brown out of the lake only the river.. nice job

Wow i would have thought you have caught tons of them! My son caught it on a minnow under a bobber. He is not much of a fisherman but loves to reel them fish in. That was the most exited i have ever seen him because the brown fought so hard.So those yellowstones dont grow that big .[crazy] Dont make sense why they dont want browns and bows in there. [cool]Loanfish-this map of the surrounding area in the Manti-Lasalle National Forest might help you out as well. As you can see, there's tons of fishable waters in that Skyline Drive area:
