Soldier Creek Crawdads
#1
Went up to Soldier Creek this Friday. When we arrived it was raining, which quickly passed. We fished to the right of the boat ramp and saw lots of little fish surfacing. Knowing that the fishing was relativly slow from other fishing reports I wasn't all that surprised that we didn't hook up with more fish that the 4 incher I caught. I did catch 43 crawdads in a couple of hours and there are just so many more waiting to be caught.

What bait did you use to catch them with?

I stopped at Days Market in Heber and got 4 pieces of raw chicken for a couple of bucks. I made a couple of traps and they worked alright, but the most effective way we were catching them was to tie the chicken on a string. We would just hold it there and once they had grabbed on, it was just a matter of slowly pulling it it. It would be really helpful if you had a net or something to get under them once you start to bring them in. I used a 4 gallon bucket that I drilled a bunch of holes in.
