K huntin' Thurdays and Saturday evenings

[font "Times New Roman"][size 3]Our main intend of the Thursday even outing was actually to test out the old "Kittie Huntress", (G-pa’s old16'er with a 75hp). We left LBH at 7:35pm. Its been at least 3 year since the old maiden had rode the waves and there were a few cobwebs to shake loose and blow out but all in all a good run. After a test ride past AFH we drop anchor at one of our favorite honey holes just moments before sundown. We only managed to boated 6 kitties, released 1 and had two break offs and caught 1 whitie by the time we pulled anchor at dark. Also just before pulling anchored we enjoyed the sounds of hounds on a hot trail near by. All kitties boated Thursday were in the 4-6lb class. [/size][/font]
[font "Times New Roman"][size 3]Saturday we set sail again but left the harbor a couple hours sooner than we had Thursday. By a quarter to 10pm we'd boated 12 kitties (kept 7 for the smoker) and had our fill of batten bugs. Sunday the smoker was put to good use.. [/size][/font][font "Times New Roman"][size 3]
[font "Times New Roman"][size 3]The bites came on the old standards,, mildly aged Carp, Chub minnows, Red shiner minnows, and Night Crawlers.. [/size][/font]
I was a bit amazed in the fact that over the two outings we'd only boated one mud. Zero massive for the weekend and Saturday we only managed 2 kitties that were in the 8-9lb class. Shameful! [/size][/font]

Don, sounds like you did pretty good. Sorry you didn't catch any monsters, but perhaps one of those that broke off was a new state record!

Thanks Kent.. Nope, both were in the 5lb class and lost close to the boat. My friend's line wasnt quite up ta snuff but new 10lb test put the hurt to em Saturday tho'

Hey Don, I am disappointed in you. A "true" fisherman can make the fish any size they want them to be when they break off, and they usually are huge. Of course, just funnin' ya. I need to get out with you and work on the quality of my catfish. I have quantity down fairly well, now I need to work on quality.

Yeah the old huntress and I have always been on good terms. Caught many a kittie on with G-pa thats for sure.. I do need to figure out a sight shifting problem but other than that its all good.
As I posted to your report of todays catch we also popped a dozen this evening. My boat has been stuck on a dozen a trip these last two runs but that should change shortly (hopefully for the better![laugh]).

Yeah man,, that wood tune kittie meat aint hard to live with. That little slant works nicely on Mac meat too! I meant to drag a few chunks along for my brother to stuff in his pie hole this evening but I spaced it off.. Oh well, his loss not mine!! [laugh]
