Upper provo report (kind of)
#1
Fished the upper provo yesterday. Maybe I wouldn't call it fishing. Took the family on a picnic up the mirror lake highway and after a beautiful steam side lunch I got the flyrod out and was doing a little demonstrating for the girls. Caught two small sub-10" trout in about 20 minutes of wading, splashing, skipping rocks and general tom foolery with the kids. I was happy that I still remembered how to cast a flyrod, it's been long enough since I've been fishing at all, let alone fly fishing. Sure was nice to get up out of the heat of the valley.

That little stream is a kick. I always walk over to the stream after a family picnic with an ultra-ultra-lite and hook little trout of various species and let the kids reel them in! It's fun because I tell the kids to watch the lure and they see the trout follow and hit.

WHere were you fishing?? I took my daughter up to Mirror Lake yesterday and then fished below Provo River Falls with my daughter and my girlfriend.... Might have seen you if you were in either place. Early on at Mirror Lake, it was just my daughter and I. I caught about four or five little trout too so it was fun. Caught some more gorgeous little rainbows and a brookie... it was a blast. Anyway, glad you got out with the family... it sure is some pretty country up there.
