Lincoln 7/19 tuesday
#1
Man it was hot from 4-6pm! [unsure] I ran up to sportsmans after work and bought my white bass killer spinner. Then headed to the state park in provo.Fished it till 630 and all i had to show for it was 1 white bass but i didnt use my killer spinner.Dont know why i didnt use it must have been the heat affecting me i guess. Then i headed to lincoln and fished the south dike.Threw a chunk of white bass in and used my spinner .Got one wb immediatly! Then another and another.Seems they came and went so i kept moving then i would catch a couple here and there. Then a mudder came a calling. Then some more wb showed up.I ended up with 18 wb and 2 mudders in 2 hours of fishing. There was a grandpa and grandson fishing there too and they had no luck catching the wb so i ended up giving them 4 thats all they wanted and i used 1 for bait.Good thing because i needed some more wb for bait.I had some in the fridge cut up in chunks and when i came home monday they were all eaten up!Lisa made fish nuggets out of them![mad] Oh well now i have bait and more nuggets ![sly]

[cool]Hey, that's a nice lookin mess of whities you got there, ocean! Glad to hear that somebody is getting into a nice school of them this year! I can't wait till the gorilla floatilla next month. You've gotta go, it'll be a blast! I wonder if the full moon tonight helped you out with the luck. Wish I was out there tonight. It will be a full moon at the floatilla which should really help make it successful!

[cool]Ocean, are you sure that it's a Blue Fox Super Vibrax? I've looked at 4 different fishing tackle websites, and haven't found any that match the color combo you are talking about. Are you sure you aren't talking about the Mepps Aglia spinner?

Na i have to work on saturday morning, i might make it for fireworks.

She is always ready and she has healed enough to chase after him, you just either need to bring your filet knife or keep bruce from the bouncy water balls

[cool]Hey ocean, thanks for posting a picture of what that one looks like. I was up at Fairview Canyon all weekend so I didn't see your response to my question. So, this Vibrax looks like it's silver but has a bunch of black and red glitter on it, is that right? I'll have to pick up a couple. I have some regular strait silver Vibrax's. Think they'd work? I know they do for trout, but not sure for the white bass.

The plain silver vibrax has caught me many white bass over the years. Usually, though, in Utah Lake the gold colors tend to do a little bit better. Perhaps if it's cloudy the silver would be a better choice than gold. Mostly though, the trick to catching white bass is not so much what you use but where you use it. If you can find and stay on a school, you'll catch quite a few in a row. If you can't locate a school, obviously nothing you throw will work. I've caught plenty of white bass on curly tail grubs and just about every kind of Mepps or blue fox spinner out there.

I agree. The key to catching white bass is to locate the white bass, which with the high water these days could be difficult. I've caught white bass on a plain bright-colored jighead when a school is around. White bass, for the most part, are pretty aggressive, but when they have the lockjaw, might as well go for another species.
