Sat: 6:30-Noon
Started off working rapps and bottom bouncer around island. Caught one little catfish. Other boats working the island soon left. Fished the light pole area, middle areas, pig farm, and south west corner. Caught a stinking 15 lb carp in sw on #7 shad rapp (took it in the mouth). Those trash fish never seem to amaze me. Did best at the pig farm. Ended up with 6 cats for the day. 0 wipers, 0 walleye.
Sun: 7-11 Am
Went straight to the pig farm and started trolling toward south east corner. Caught a catfish on a jointed walleye immitation. I then realized I'd screwed up on the fuel situation. I though I had one full tank but it turned out to have just enough to get me back to the marina. I switched tactics and used the electric motor with a bottom bouncer. Ended up catching two more really nice sized cats. Fished for a couple minutes by the "no boats allowed" bouy in the channel and caught a crappie on a jig.
Both days tried varying depths, lures, colors and speeds (2-4 mph). I feel like of got the catfish pegged pretty good. Wish I could figure out the walleye.
