Despite a very busy summer schedule I have managed to get a few hours in on my latest fishing boat remodel. The floor was in rough shape and I decided to rip it out. If you have never done a project like this let me tell ya it is very labor intensive. I plan to glass in the new floor this coming week then start work on the engine.
CURENT:
1966 Glastron V-142
1969 Johnson 55 horse
PLANS: depending on $ and time
Lowrance fishfinder
downriggers (2 each)
Numerous rod holders
Rod storage rack
Rear pedastal mount fishing chair
Bow mount trolling motor (auto/co pilot hopefully)
Bimini top

Pat,
That really looks like a project! I too am working on an old boat. Not to intrude, but if you wouldn't mind, I would appreciate an opportunity to come and look at your boat. I'd like to get a better understanding of the hull construction, and any info I might learn in making some minor repairs to mine.

Kent,
Just time and money and I will finally have a "Classic" fishing boat to parade around in.
I plan to put a little extra TLC into this one, she deserves all my "labor of love". My Grandpa used to have an old Glastron that was supposed to be willed to me when he passed but my selfish relatives sold it out from under me while I was away fighting a war for our country! I loved him and the boat and swore that one day I would have one very much like like his. This was as close as I could find and the price was right. My son and I are working together on it. This is a great thing to share and a great opportunity to teach him some skills.
Thanks for the reply and looking my friend

I have also got a boat that looks very similar to that one you are working on. Mine is a 63 glaspar avalon. I found a interesting website that gives alot of insite on how to restore these older fiberglass boats.

Looks like a project I started on my boat. had to gut her and redo everything. But I have never finished her. Got her to fishablity and that is all she wrote. Now I just need to get her running right again (no high end). Good luck on your project.

Chad,
You have more than paid back any favors by taking my son and I fishing for wipers. He still asks me when we are going again.
You are always to welcome to come over and have a beer or two but my son and I are going to work this boat as a farther son project this winter. I ripped the floor out to check the chines and hull condition to see if it would be worth fixing up.
You friend

I was looking in the Big Nickle and saw an ad that might interest you:
"Boats seats from a 1971 Glastron , newly upholstered $100.00 call 801-337-4629". I'm not sure this will interest you Pat but I thought I would let you know.
