How About Nite Fishing Willard
#1
I was thinking with this talk about catching slim rockets at the berry. That a nite fishing trip to willard would be fun. Wipers at nite, I bet you could nail them the same way the do at powell for stripers. Who is interested? I have have teh lights to due so...

[black]I've tried night fishing at Willard several times and always been skunked. Not until first light would I ever catch anything. But that was back when I was trying to learn Willard. Since then I have often wondered if those battery powered light-up lures in white would work on a full moon night. I think they would.

[black]If I were retired and had plenty of time to spend fishing, I would take you up on the trip. But since my luck at night has been so bad out there, I think I will save what precious little time I have for more productive day light trips.

[black]Good luck though and for sure return and report.[/black]

I personally can recall many more quick limit nights on Willard than day time fishing. My father in law and I would take my boat out when most the skiers were coming off the water because of darkness. We didnt kill them every night we went but there were a few when we had our limits in just over an hour or so.

I never used anything more than a Producer. I have always told many that they underestimate Willards night time potential.

If you pick a night when I don't have to get up at 4:00 the next morning for work I'm willing to give it a shot with you.

I like night fishing. What night are you thinking of ? And what part of Willard are you thinking of fishing ?

A few years ago I went on a all night maiden voyage(first night trip) with a couple of friends in thier almost new boat, I caught a bunch of walleyes and wipers. If I remember correctly, one of them caught a limit of catfish that night as well.

This past month I've gone Willard with my sister and her husband in the evenings. We don't start fishing until 7:00 pm and it starts picking up around 9:00 pm one night we stayed on the lake until midnight. The catching has not been the fastest but it has been steady. It may get better after 9:00 pm because the wind usually dies down leaving a smooth lake.

Sounds like nite fishing willard is like nite fishing anywhere. Up and Down. I really want to try this. It will have to be a friday or sat nite. Maybe on the 10th of sept. I'd say this saturday nite but I don't think it will give some of you guys enough time to plan. well lets kick this around.

Sorry dude I just wish you would have planed your nite fishing thingie somewhere else besides the stinking berry... And you had to do it the nite of my youngest first ever sleep over b-day party. Like I will be able to get the nite off that nite. With 12 kids staying the nite no way. There is no way i would want to due this the weekend of labor day either.

[black]As I understand it, lights are not allowed for night fishing. They are however, allowed for "safety" or marina docking purposes only.[/black]

Shouldnt really need any lights, just a rattling lure. If they are hungry, they'll chase it. Antoher thing I did was troll slower at night than you would during the day.
