Bear River 8-28-05
#1
I put in at Corinne at around 7:30 am and went down stream a couple miles. I am not real sure of the distance but it took me about 30-40 min to get back.

I kept 5 cats with the biggest at 2lbs according to my spring scale. I also got a carp for bait.

I was using chicken livers cured in sun with garlic salt, and night crawlers but after I noticed the cats pretty much only taking the liver I switched only to that. I rigged up my 2 poles with two #2/0 circle hooks and I was supprised that I did not have much trouble with snags.
Nothing real super but still a good day on the water.

Thanks for your report John, did you find the big tree I told you about?

Not real sure if it was the same tree but where I was fishing was a small bend with a tree. The bend was not quite a horseshoe but it may have been past the bend you were talking about. I think that cause there was a pretty recognizable bend with a large tree in it that I passed. I am sure this last spring waters changed alot of the river. Like I said it took me at least 30 min to get back to the ramp with my 5hp full thottle. Any time you may want to go I would like to go. Many times I want to go I can't find anyone to go.... like this morning. It was only me in the boat this morning.

After you go past that last big tree there is a long straight away with nothing but open fields and bushes. There might be some smaller trees along that straight away but nothing over 10 to 12 ft. Did you launch at the same place you got stuck in last time? From that launch area the road follows the river down stream to that farm house that is right by the river, that stretch has the big trees that over hang the river and is fairly straight until you get to that big tree on the corner. I wouldn't mine getting together with you and fishing the Bear one of these days. I'll PM you and we can make some plans.
