Well, schools started again, and so has the cut back in my fishing and hunting time. I've gotten out fishing the last two days after school, after cross country practice, and before I pick my little brother up, at a few places on the mill creek. Monday I tried it the only place I know of to fish it above highland drive, and before the canyon. First cast in whamo! Instant 15" brown. After that, de nada.
Today I went just down the street from granite. There were a bunch of suckers sitting in there, so I couldn't resist messin with 'em. Wound up snagging 2, both around 18". Man o man they put up a heckuva fight when their tail-hooked! Got down to a really decent hole and started rolling fish. Got one on, finally, and reeled him in. 16" rainbow. Casted across stream a few times, and whamo! 19" cuttbow. I was surprised to see a hybrid in the mill creek, let alone a hybrid that big! That's the second biggest trout for me from there, ever. There must still be a few surviving bonneville cutts in there too, I guess. All the fish were caught with a #9 gold panther martin, retrieved at a pretty good pace to keep it from snagging, and all were imediatly released in great condition.
I love that fishing after school. It's such a great way to releave all that pent up stress. I would have had pictures, except for the fact that I go to granite. I love that school, but there are a few too many people that go there that are way too untrustworthy, even if it was locked in my truck. I just can't be too sure nowadays.
