quail creek
#1
i'm thinking about making a visit up to quail over labor day. has anybody been lately? are the bass still deep and is it effective nite fishing right now? anyone know what works the best at quail at nite? obviously i read tube dudes posts on nite fishing for bass and see that he has good advice for colors but i was wondering if anyone has nite fished quail lately and has info on specifics of what worked well(lures and presentations). i think i'll go to sand hollow in the evening and then move to quail as it gets darker. also where are they holding in the daylight hours through the heat? i haven't been to quail since it got so hot that they went deep. i have a float tube so i can get over them if they are deeper. i'll post a report with pics. after i go. thanx fellers.

I was at Quail last Saturday. Didn't catch anything, but couldn't fish where I wanted because of skiers. I expected that on a Saturday, so I didn't get worked up over it. I spent the next three days on Sand Hollow. Caught more fish than I can remember. Most around a pound, a few 2 pounders. My wife landed a 4lb largemouth...I won't live that down for a long time[pirate]

We used a Texas rig with a 1/8 oz slip sinker and a 2/0 offset hook. Other guys I talked to used carolina and drop shot and did just as well. Got bites on everything, but pumpkin and junebug worked the best. We fished shallow 8 to 18 feet. The larger fish where hanging around cover that you could just make out below the surface, around 14ft.

I had a great day Monday around the rocks, (no skiers on weekdays [cool]). I threw to the shallow rocks and pulled back to drop off the ledges. Got a bite on the fall almost every time.

We planned to go back to Quail, but had too much fun at Sand Hollow.

If you go around the lake past the sand hill, there is a table and an out house on the beach. We fished there on sunday and skiers "mostly" left us alone. A great spot for your tube.

Hope this helps.

thanx for the report trailertrash. i know that table and outhouse area well. i've caught quite a few under that table. is it still in the water? it used to be about 8" deep and held a lot of bass under it. i'd float out and cast onto the table with a senko wacky rigged then just let it drop and they would nail it every time. perhaps i'll skip quail and just stick to sand hollow. provided i can afford to spend $284 for a tank of gas to drive up from vegas.
