Community Ponds Need Your Help!!!

It is time to put an end to the people that are robbing our ponds of fish. I'm talking about the people that are taking more than the legal limit of fish, day after day at the ponds.
They have no regard for the law and they know that they are not going to get caught.
It is up to all of us to put a stop to these jerks!
Please get license plate numbers and descriptions of known law breakers and turn them in.
If we can't put a stop to these abusers of the law, then the ponds may have to be restricted to kids only. Not a bad idea, but the ponds are really for everyone to enjoy.
If anyone has other ideas as to how to stop these poachers, please respond back to this post.
I would also like to see a daily limit of two catfish and two trout at the community ponds. This would help to teach people that you can let some fish go and still have some for supper.
Please do your part and turn in people that you see abusing the community ponds. This is the most effective way we have to stop poaching at the ponds.

I know a lot of us have cell phones and there is a number on the back of our fishing licenses for reporting this type of stuff.

I don't like to think of myself as a snitch but but I respect the fishing laws and have little respect for those who don't.

You wanna know the word for someone who sees another breaking the law and fulfills their duty to report it to proper authorities? Citizen.

If you're not comfortable approaching someone who may not be familiar with the regs, you can contact the proper authorities. Does it make a difference? Absolutely. You remember that story about a guy about a year or so ago who would fill up, go home, come back, limit out, go home, come back, etc? He was reported, investigated, and they busted him with something like 200-300 fish in his freezer.

Reporting those things is what citizens do. That doesn't make them snitches, it makes them honest and honorable.

I think my biggest problem with the community ponds are the harvesters who follow the stocking truck down to the water (figuritively) then catch and take home every fish they can catch. I get sick every time I see a 9 inch dinker which will get thrown away later on a stringer. The dinker is usually next to enough others to have limited out that particular fisherman. [/#505000]

[#505000]I realize not everybody is going to catch fish on every trip but I find it disheartening when you hit these urban ponds and find they have been fished bare in a matter of a few days or a week of planting. That tells me EVERYBODY is taking home their limit. Reduce the limit and I am guessing the ponds won't be fished out immediately. [/#505000]

[#505000]As far as the illegal activety goes. Report it and do it immediately. I am always amused/pissed when I get called at work to a report of a crime and the complainant tells me....... "I saw the guy breaking into my neighbor's truck so I yelled out the window I was going to call the cops. He ran away and I called you" Ya thanks...... [crazy]way to give him a head start. [#505000]Drew I'm telling you now I think a $5 stamp is a wonderful idea free for kids/senoirs. Those who aren't willing to pay it and will go elsewhere to fish will relieve some pressure on these waters and ultimately make it a better experience for those who choose to fish them. [/#505000]

[#505000]I am against kids only on these ponds because I live within 10 minutes of one and from time to time if I have an hour or two it is relaxing to strech some string at said pond. I think it would cut a lot of senoirs and folks who live close from having an opportunity to fish. [/#505000]
