E-lake Report 9-5-05
#1
my boy has been trying to get me out of the house all week to do some fishing but i have been busy trying to get my addition finished.. but today i finley said pack the truck and lets get out of here befor your mother can find something else for me to do..lol..
well we got there about 9:30 this morning and i got the trap's ready and he was allready fishing by the time i had all the traps in the water.. with that said he hooked up shortly after i got my line out..a nice little cuttbow.. then it was him that struck again shotly after with the biggest fish of the trip a nice 19" cutt.. now he was feeling a little cocky and taunting his old man about catching 2 to my zip.. lol..
well did not take long for the the old man to strick back as he farmed his next 2 fish and i got off the skunk and hooked up on my first fish then a quick one again to catch back up with him.. setting at 2 fish each it was on.. he farmed yet another fish as i did the same.. he hurried and rebaited up and casted out to have his next fish hit right as it hit the water.. bam he was up again and relly letting me hear about.. ahh but it was not yet time for the student to beat the master.. lol. like lightening the old man struck back with a vengence scoreing 2 more cutt's.. then he anounced it time to check the traps.. so we grabed the buckit and off we went the first trap was a no show (bummer) next trap had a fair amount and the last trap had a fair amount in it as well.. so now he said it was time to go home and get the minnows in the freezer.. so we packed up and went home.. most the way home he got his nap in and got up just befor we got home to help bag up the minnows and get lunch..lol
all together we cought 7 fish missed about 7 or 8 as well.. got 10 more bags of minnows for the ice season comeing up.. and had a great time fishing with me boy..

Sounds like a really fun trip Ron. Looks to me the water isn't as low as it was last year. Did they finally plug the hole?

Good to hear you and your lad finally got a chance to do a little fishin' bud! I nearly made a run up there yesterday but managed to talk myself out of it. I still want to get back to Huntington for round 2 with the tiggies..

[cool]Nice report, fuzzy. That lake is awesome! I really enjoyed the two days that I got to fish it this year. After I move up to Layton it's going to be even farther away, so I don't think I'll make it back this season. It's a beautiful setting, nice and uncrowded, and has nice umpteen inch cut's that love to fight ya almost anytime. Awesome lake! Can't wait to fish it again next summer.

Good report and pictures,

When we was up there last weekend we noticed that the fishing really did not start-up good untill the sun hit the water, have you noticed this or was it just me?

i have noticed up at E-lake that in the morinig (befor the sun comes up) and evening (after the sun go's down) the fish move in very close to the shoure.. like 3 to 5 feet off the shoure if you can find a aera that has a small flat and a step dropoff next to it your in the right area.. fish right where the dropoff and flat meet. fish with a bubble and the minnow down about 3 feet at that time. last year when i camped up there in the mornings i would put a floting rapala on in trout color and splash in right along the shoure like a bass popper and them cutt's would just expolad on it. realy cool to see trout do that.. after the sun comes up the fish move out to alittle deeper water so fishing 15 to 20 feet out works better. fish with a sinker on the bottom after the sun comes up.. and i always keep a eye out for the cutt's chacing the minnows around my traps.. i have cought alot of fish there just seeing a fish around the trap and putting a minnow in frount of it..
