Rockport report 9/6
#1
My boy Nathan and I went to rockport monday To do a little fishing. We got there about 7:30, the skies were blue, a gentle breeze in the air, not to crowded for a holiday weekend.

We started to fish at the second outhouse, and although I've never met the man carp-punisher[cool] was kind enough to loan us his pet skunk. We tried worms under a bobber , we tried worms a foot off the bottom, we tried worms on the bottom and we tried power bait in all above mentioned locations.

We tried by the dam. We tried off the rocks on the other end of the lake. I threw everything in the takle box at em'. Sorry forgot to bring kitchen sink. The only consolation fish wise was that it appeared as if carp-punisher[Wink] was very generous with his pet and no-one was catching anything.

The only report of even a nibble came from a guy whose friends stood behind him shaking there heads [crazy]as he told of a few missed strikes.

Other than the fish not co-operating Nathan and I had alot of fun anyways. Nathan(almost 4 yrs.) Kept wanting to fish with a 5" broken back rap in my box so we tied it on his line and we had us some more casting practice. He does pretty good with those pushbutton reels.

Besides the practice Nathan kept me entertained by chasing ducks, talking the ear off of every passerby(telling them about our lack of success in the fish department) and emptying my tackle box piece by piece over and over again.

Overall I'd say we had a great time even though the "catching" wasn't happening[angelic].

ps. nothing personal carp-punisher, it's just that I've read so much about you and your black pet kitty with the white stripe[blush]

Bummer Bigpapafish,

However, if you've fished there a time or two, you are probably already aware that there are a few weeks in the mid/latter part of the summer that little or no catching occurs there - regardless of where you fish or what you use. At least it has been that way for me and a bunch of other folks for the last 20 some years or so - there are days when it's like there are no fish in the water at all anywhere on the lake. Sounds like you timed it just right for one of them - glad I missed it - it can be frustrating there when it's like that. Were you targeting trout, bass, perch or did you care ?

BTW - Don't worry about CP's "pole cat" - I heard tell it was still stuck to him on Utah Lake. Even though he has tried to give it away at the Payson put'n'take ponds, I think he is discovering, it's a little trickier to release one of those "pole cats" than it is to catch one of the other cats he wants to keep. Besides, I think I've heard that "pole cats" are like game fish - they are not legally transferable with out proper paper work - signed by both parties.
