[#505000]Ok ok I know none of you missed me, and a few were probably excited when I seemed to have disappeared. [Tongue] Went to Vegas for a week for some work related training. [/#505000]

[#505000]I went to Cabelas a few weeks ago and after having previously been to a Bass Pro Shop before I was a little disappointed. During my spare time in Vegas I made it point to stop at the Vegas Bass Pro to take some pictures. I just rolled in so I'm to tired to post them now, but when I have a little more motivation to resize the pictures I'll get them posted.[/#505000]

[#505000]They had a huge salt water aquarium with mermaids which came in every hour to feed the fish, and an awesome warm water aquarium. They also had a monster hook jawed brown in their trout aquarium, and a fishing section that dwarfed Cabela's. [/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]Don't get me wrong I like the Cabelas, it's just not nearly as cool as Bass Pro.[/#505000]

[#505000]Ok I think I'll post a couple of pictures for ya'll.[/#505000]

Good looking brown CP. I guess that means your skunk is only hanging out at UL. Where did you fish while you were there and how did you sneak out of you training sessions ?

Hey BA, What were you in Springfield for ? I grew up in that neck of the woods. You really haven't missed too much at Cabelas. I went last week during the day and it was not crowded at all. The best parts were the fish aquariums and lunch. The selection was very generic and already well picked through - at least it seem so as far as I could see. But, I think it's because they are in a new market here in Utah and are not really familiar with it yet - that's my hope anyway. You're right about the Bass Pro Shops though.

You were gone? [Tongue] No wonder i have been catching fish all of a sudden! [sly] Man i was at cabelas last sunday and i thought it was going to be a little bigger but still its impressive for utah.I have been tothe bass pro in ft lauderdale and that place has an way better aquarium than cabelas. The bass in there would make any bass fisherman drool.

[#505000]Springfield Mo was my first Bass Pro experience too and it was heaven!!!! I particularly liked the Mickey D's right above the pond. We "accidentally" kept dropping fries in it and watching the big fish feast on deep fried potato. [/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]The Vegas one is smaller the the Springfield Mo. Store but it's still very impressive. The aquariums are smaller, but they have a lot more character than the Cabela's aquariums. The Bass Pro aqauriums have the neat waterfalls and above round scenery going for them. I was amazed they even stocked a big stinky carp in the vegas aquarium.[/#505000]

[#505000]Fishhound. I wish I had had the time to fish while I was out there. Those Bass Pro aquariums were tempting but I think they may frown on that. [Tongue][/#505000]

Cabelas is more for hunting and outfiting and Bass Pro is more for fishing. I would not go to a Bass Pro shops looking for a to die for gun collection, or even to purchase a gun just like I would not go to Cabelas looking for a super fantastic fishing selection. I will tell you though they have a much better selection than the other large retailers at competing prices. For a super megamart of outdoor goodies Cabelas has done a fine job.

Nice pics and i cant wait to see the rest of them.

[#505000]I understand what you are saying, but it's NOT what I am talking about. What I am talking about is the coolness of the in store displays. Cabelas displays are freaking awesome, BUT Bass Pro's displays are freaking WAY MORE AWESOMER!! [Tongue][/#505000]

I went to the Vegas store, and was very unimpressed. I could, however, spend days inside of Cabelas, but I primarily hunt so that could be the reason for the difference in opinion.

[#505000]I've never been to the Cabela's in Nebraska, but if you ever find yourself in Missouri try that Bass Pro Shop. WOW is about all I can say about it. It will strike you speechless!!![/#505000]

I agree the bass at Cabela's are disappointing only one or two small lmb. Mostly smallmouths. I want to see giant 8lb largemouths!!! The selection of fishing tackle is not diverse and highly priced. Sportsman's is much cheaper and have most of the same products. I admit that tank is still an attraction though.
