Sockeyeslayer,

We were up on the FG Pond over the labor day weekend for 4 days( swim b, pipeline , anvil) and couldn't get into the Kokes? I tried trolling with the Shasta tackle on riggers 20'-60'; always has worked in the past? I also tried to vertical jigging ( buzz bombs) when we'd locate a few on the finder. The last few years on labor day we've always did very well and were always able to find and catch kokes both jigging and trolling. With the water level higher this year, It's my belief it has changed were the kokes are hanging out, or did the kokes just have lock jaw around labor day? We landed many small and one large mac vertical jigging, just no kokes? We plan to go up again next week end for kokes, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Good Luck on your trip!!! Let us know how you do...[Smile]

I too was there on the Sat. during labor day with the same results....no kokes!!! Glad to see it wasn't just me. Thought I had forgot how to fish. We fished from buckboard to north of anvil and just got 2 small kokes...11" er's. Not sure what the problem was, we saw lots of fish, just no action. Hopefully it gets better. Good luck

Just got back from F.G.,fished wed evening for Kokes,me and the wife caught 30 kokes on the home made jigs,Thurs fished for the macs at Anvil, boated 7 macs in the morning, went to L B in the afternoon got 2 more macs largest was 22#.Thurs evening fished for the kokes again caught 23 in a little over an hour between the both of us.Fri morn did the macs again at Anvil boated 6 fish, then the famous F.G.W.,came up,so i headed to camp and spent the rest of the morn and part of the afternoon listening to the W sat in the camper.Did go back out for awhile in the evening, took a friend out with me to do the kokes, wasnt real hot.Still a little rough by the cliffs hard to stay on the fish, did hook 12 kokes.Sat morning fished for the macs at Anvil again, caught 3macs before the W started again,so back to camp it was for this old man again. In the afternoon we decided to go troll the shore line north of Anvil, picked up 2 nice bows and a 3#smallie.Then lo and behold the W quit the pond laid down so back to the kokes, had to give 2 guys a lesson on jigging for kokes, they never touched a fish, while i was there, when i left i gave them some of the home made jigs to try.Sunday morn was real good no W,so myself and Larry in his boat followed me to the spot, after finding the fish Larry pulled along side me,it wasnt long before we had more company, just me and L was catching the kokes out of the 5 other boats,i was nicknamed the bus driver,i was taking everyone to school. It was a good trip even though the W did screw with us for awhile

Sounds like a good time on the gorge.I talked to my buddy that was camped at holmes all weekend ,he said the same thing .They caught a lot of fish over three days. They caught most of their kokes long lining,,mainly macks on the downriggers, and a few bows in the process.
