I am hoping to hit Mantua in the morning with my son. We will also be in tubes and pontoons. The weather doesn't look to good though. If we make it up there I will look for you. I will have a two way on channel 12. We will be East of the ramp.

Leaky, where were you today?
We fished from 11:00 till 4:00 and it was nonstop action. My son and I both got a grand slam netting Bass, Bluegill, Trout and Perch. Some of the Perch went 12" and some of the Gills were not much smaller. The oil is heating up as I post this and the feast will be on in about half an hour.
Jig heads tipped with a piece of crawler was all we used. We looked for water at the edge of weeds and about 10' or deeper. Most fish were on the bottom. Get out 200' or more from shore to find the deeper water.

Well guys, I did get my fillets but they weren't giants(12 in limit). Walked in on the north end of Jordanelle and took Sparky even though I'm not supposed to. It is very remote and seldom see anyone. Sounds like I should have gone to Mantua. Thanks for the help guys. I hope to see ya on the water sometime.
DKS - Where about on the lake were ya. I keep woorying about Sparky having another confrontation with a shore angler that doesn't want a dog anywhere around him.

Leaky, we were to the East and by the South side. We went about half way to the East and out at least 200 yards from the South shore. We just looked for drop offs next to weeds in the water. I did mark a few spots on my GPS. If you could use them, give me a PM and I will give them to you.
We only picked up 6 bass, but they were from 10" to 15" in size. It was the perch that surprised us with their size. Several went 10" to 12".
Good luck with your fish fry, Dale.

Leaky,
I just gotta post my feelings about your not being able to take Sparky with you to a lot of places.
I lived in South Dakota for 12 yrs. & while there my oldest daughter graduated college & got a teaching job at an old one room school at a crossroads named Stoneville. She lived in a trailer house that the school district provided. The nearest neighbor was about two miles away.
Although the people out there were wonderful & looked after her like one of their own, she wasn't comfortable alone so she went to the shelter in Rapid City & got this big yellow lab the day before he was to be put down.
That dog became my best buddy. I've never loved a dog that much in my life & probably never will again. He & I went everywhere together. Sometimes he'd be a big pain in the butt when he'd charge ahead of me when I was fishing a stream, dog jumpin' in the water sure as he-- doesn't help the catching much. Anyway , we really had some times together. He's 12 now & getting pretty stove up with arthritis & I don't get to see him much but it's a joy how he'll come to greet me when we get back up there to visit.
I guess the upshot of all this is - take Sparky with you & enjoy each other all you can. If he bugs others, apologize & keep on keepin' on. You aren't gonna ever be able to go back & get a missed time together. Far as the law goes, dunno what you can do about that. I always kept three or four baggies in a pocket & when Jessie dumped I'd just gather it up & haul it out with me. Nobody ever bitched about that.
