I am considering heading up to Silver Lake Flat up American Fork Canyon this weekend. Has anyone fished it? What variety of species are there and how is the fishing? Better than Tibble Fork? Are you going to catch fish that are big enough to keep and chow down on? Just looking for info to decide if it's worth the trip up there.

I have not fished it since spring. But it is typically a little faster fishing for planter rainbows and small brook trout than Tibble Fork. I have not caught any big ones but that doesn,t mean that they are not there.

The scenery alone makes the trip worth it.

I used to fish it all the time, but I've never really seen it hold much more than planter bows.
Also, I usually fished it in the early summer...I had a buddy who went up later in the year and he said it was drawn WAY down--almost drained. Don't know if that's the case every year, though.
Anyone else experience this?
