Instead of going to the Berry, we decided to hit the Uintas before it got too cold. We first went to Echo up Murdock Basin. It was beautiful, especially with the leaves changing. By the way, Murdock Basin Road gets worse every year. Anyway, we caught a ton of brookies there. Some had the bright orange glow to them. They were about the same size of fish as Trial. I was hoping they would be bigger. It was still fun. Then we drove over to Pyrmid for an hour or so and caught a bunch more there. Had a great time in the mountains. Caught all fish on yellow and black fly with bubble, and a gold Jakes spin a lure.

Thank you for the report. I have always wanted to try Echo but I haven't made it yet. According to the DWR Uintas guide book, Echo has a limited number of California golden trout in it. (not albino rainbows) Spawning brookies are spectacularly colored in their own right, but might the "bright orange" ones have been goldens?

To be honest, I am not sure. I know they had a lot of orange and had some blue spots on them. They were very cool. I know there are goldens in there, but not user what they look like. If you have never been to Echo, you need to try it out. The road is really bumpy, but there is no one up there. It is really peaceful. Plus you can catch a lot of fish. The only bad part of my trip, was that I got ready to launch my tube, and it had a hole in it. I was so mad. Last time I was up there, I hiked to Joan and the lures fell out of the pockets and made a hole. Bad luck. If you get a chance to go to Joan, that is a great lake too. It is a little bit of a hike though. I love it up in the uintas.
