Willard 9-30-05
#1
Me and a friend went to Willard and launched around 8:30 am. We did some trolling until around 12:30. Our total was 8 or 9 wiper. It was a pretty succesful day. We caught them on average in about 12-15 feet of water. We were using many kinds of hardbaits but the colors were all about the same white or silver base with black markings. Were there any folks from BFT out there? We were in a small 12' aluminum boat painted white, yellow, and orange. There was quite the crowd out there this morning.

I hope everyone had a great day cause there are possibly not going to be many more days this year on Willard as beautifull as it was today.

Hey pennyfarmer,

I saw you guys out there trolling - hard to forget that boat. I was thinking if you changed the colors just a little bit, you could make it look like the WWII navy camoflage. I was in my battleship gray camo "blend into the rocks" float tube plastered comfortably against the dikes on either side of the marina - depending on what time you might have noticed me. When I saw you guys, I was by the dike on the south side of the mouth of the marina and you guys were trolling in front of the marina out maybe a 1/4 mile or so headed south.

Well fishhound Iv'e had enough of "Haze Grey and Underway". I would have hated to be in Deck Division on one of those WWII ships. That paint job had to be hell. Make sure you got the right colors in the right place. I am sure it was not paint by numbers either.

I believe me and my friend did mention how well you blended into the dike. My kids picked the colors of my boat and they really like it.

Did you do very well?

[cool]Yesterday at Willard was pretty slow for me and most of the other tubers/tooners. Marked some fish here and there, but not a lot, and from what I heard, they were REALLY stacked up down towards the feed lot. There were lots of BFT'rs out yesterday. TubeDude, BassAckward, me, Fishhound, CBR, Polokid, our own moderator (BearLakeMack), Petty4life, HCD, and that's all I can recall at the moment. I know CBR and polokid had a pretty good day (considering the W). Most of us tubers got blown off the lake at some point, and overall it was pretty slow fishing.

Anyhew, I did manage to land my first Wiper, a (20 incher) and here's a picture of the fiesty fishy:

Man they sure are a BLAST to catch. I hope that one is the first of many more in the future. I'm gonna hit Willard hard next summer now that I live closer to it.
