I just heard a nasty rumor that Mill Hollow will be closing because of an unsafe dam. Can anyone verify this?
I hope that it is not true. This is a fun place to take kids fishing and it would be greatly missed.

Unsafe dam to who? That dam is only like 13 feet deep and does not have a real big surface area. How much flooding can it cause? I bet there are storms every year that bring that much water down the lower part of the canyon. But I know they are looking at dam saftey all over the state.

I went up to Mill Hollow about a month ago fishing and spoke with the forest ranger pretty extensively about what they are doing with the reservior and campground. He said that currently millhollow dam, even how small it is, its considered the second most unsafe and dangerous dam in Utah. I dont know if I believe this, but he also said in the middle of the reserviour it is over 100 feet deep. From what the ranger said, it is on the books to demo the dam and rebuild. They spent the summer and said they are going to finish next spring a rennovation to the campground to help bring electricity and a few other ammenities

Maybe he meant a hundred feet wide. There used to be a sign from when they first made the dam that stated its depth as 15 feet. And i'm sure that its filled in some after all these years.
