"Sen. Orrin Hatch has introduced a bill that would raise the height of the dam if a study proves that it is feasible. The dam could be raised 5 to 10 feet, increasing the reservoir's capacity by 50,000 to 70,000ft."
This is important for two reasons, one of course is so it can be used for agricultural and drinking water. Second and just as important for us wiper fishermen, is the potential for bigger wipers with the deeper water. One of the reasons the wipers haven't grown any bigger is the fact that they need deeper water to grow larger. Deeper water means cooler water and when the water gets too hot, wipers do not grow over a certain length. I sure would be interesting if they find that the dam could be raised another 10 ft. WH2

That would be great! but that would wipe out all that work and money they just put into the north marina, camping and day use area, so they will most likely vote against it[unsure]

Sounds interesting, but it could get tricky.
One of the effects of raising the dam would be that the water levels would fluctuate a lot more. This particular study also leaves out any mention of raising the dam level to bring in water from the Bear River, (which is probably good, because it's doubtful the Feds would fund the study if you threw that in) but that whole issue with the Bear is still huge.
Willard's the talk of a lot of entities right now. The State has some studies, Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District may have their eyes on using it, and Weber Basin Water Conservancy District seems pretty nervous--or at least protective.
If you're interested in some of the proposals that might affect Willard in the future, check out this link:

[#ff4040]That would be awesome. Can you imagine the fight on a bigger wiper. They fight like they are 10 lbs already, even though they are only 3 lbs. If that happens then I will fish Willard alot.[/#ff4040]

The article was just about the study to see if the dam could be raised but I'm with you, just the thought of the wipers getting bigger is big news as far as I'm concerned. WH2

I would thinkg the study's got a good chance of being funded. If they can better utilize Willard, and create big mama wipers while avoiding messing other things up, why not kill two birds with one stone and give us a shot and some lunkers?
Only time will tell...
