Took my two oldest (girl-9 & boy-6 yrs) to Strawberry, arrived at 4 PM and fished until just after dark. We dropped anchor in about 12 feet and put the canvas up on the boat, spent the night on the water telling stories and eating treats with some sleep mixed in, then started fishing again at 6:30 until around 11 when the wind started up. Fishing in 8-17 feet of water was like it usually is this time of year - smoking. Minnow imitators late and early killed the cuts, we twice had triples on, and twice I caught fish on four consectutive casts. In all we boated 60-70 fish (spent some time untangling the kids lines and giving lessons). Biggest was a beautiful 25" cut caught Friday evening (picture attached). The plant die-off has really started up there, alot of green stuff on the surface. Time to go shallow, especially until 9 am or so. White tubes worked a little deeper after 9 AM. What a great time of year at Strawberry.

[cool]What a beauty, piscispursuit. Nice fish. I can't wait to take my kids out to the 'berry when they are that old. Heck, I'll be taking them out a lot sooner than that! Thanks for sharing the pic. So, when you say minnow immitating lures, do you mean cranks like rapalas, or tube jigs?

Crankbaits like rapalas or pointers worked great late and early, jigs worked better in after the sun got higher.

Great report and very nice cutt. It must have been very cold on the water, did you have frost on the boat the next morning? WH2

Remarkably Friday night was fairly warm - seems like it only went to about 30 degrees. There was a little frost on the boat, and fog wisping off the water with no wind. Very peaceful, until you ripped a lip that is.
