what's up guys and galls,
me and the "AnglenAngel" took a trip out to utah lake today lookin for anything hungary, but were let down, big time. worked the bubble up for a few hours this morning then headed west and worked the shoreline. we tossed out the traditional classics. minnows, shrimp, and white bass nuggets both under bobbers and still fishing in the mud. didn't have a bite at all durring the 6 hrs we fished. it was nice though. it seemed we had the lake to ourselfs with no wind or playmobiles. the wind picked up about 2pm and we bolted. peace out

[cool][#0000ff]Hey Kid, good to hear from you guys again. Sorry the old pond treated you so shabby. That whole area dropped off in midsummer and there has not been much going on around there for awhile. And, that weed growth is unbelievable.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Probably the big thing right now is the transition time water temps. Storm fronts keep moving through and water temps are up and down. Just a bit warm yet for real good walleye action and just a bit cool for the kitties. They usually slow way down once the water temps drop below 55-60. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]That being said, I got a nice 26" channel yesterday at Lincoln Beach, and 4 over 4 pounds at the same place 2 weeks ago. Both times I was fishing a half minnow on one of my new "bobber head" jigs...about a foot off the bottom in 6 feet of water. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Just a hint, in case you have not fished the full annual cycle of walleyes during years with higher water...look inside the harbors now. As the baitfish move inside in colder weather, the walleyes follow. There are quite a few taken this time of year in most of the harbors. I caught a 12# walleye several years ago in American Fork harbor early in November, in a small jig being fished for white bass.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The way you guys fish minnows can be very productive all through the cooler months, inside those harbors. The walleyes also hit pieces of white bass meat or crawlers fished the same way.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Good luck and let us know if you find some fishies.[/#0000ff]

hey tubedude, congrats on your catch. you and tubebabe always seem to do pretty well out there. i had thought i was finished with utah lake for the year after our trip the other day, but thanx to your premium and informative reply, (as always) i can't wait to get to workin those marinas! chances are we'll be out there next weekend. i absolutely love the idea of catching fish (or at least having a good chance of catching fish) in a calm, wind protected area on utah lake. thanx again!

[cool][#0000ff]I have not heard anything about American Fork harbor since it was closed during the flooding. It was really good, both inside and outside for awhile. But then, that was also about the time the bubbleup was producing well.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you go down, you might wanna launch at Lindon and run over to AF to check it out. I have always done well there this time of year, and it has some good structure along the edges. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]There have been reports already of walleyes coming from inside Lindon, on lures being chucked for largemouth. And, when the water temps are a couple of degrees warmer than outside, the channel cats wander inside too.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]One of the "sleepers" this time year, inside the harbors, are the crappies. Fish little jigs a few feet under a bobber, either along the brushy edges or next to the docks. If you can find where they are holding you can get into some gooduns. Sometimes the walleyes hang around the crappies for an occasional "snack" too.[/#0000ff]
