Since I don't know what you are fishing, or the rules of where you are fioshing, I can't provide info specific to what you need. I have found that overall, my best results come from nightcrawlers. As good as artificial lures and bait can be, there is something about them that I have always had a problem with. They can be very successful, but some are just crap, and you really need to know what you are doing when you buy them. I have fished areas where fish go crazy for nightcrawlers but scoff at fake bait. Also, I would recommend using barbed hooks unless prohibited, especially in tournatment, because they tend to stick better to the fish. Thus the fish has less chance of coming free.Personally, I also find it better to use kit heavier than you need. I use a reel stocked with 15 pound test for all of my fishing know. Chances are, you will be needing sinkers or weights as well. I would caution against lead, as lead can harm you, the water, the fish, and can be a pain to set up. I enjoy Ultra Steel Bullet Weigts. They are stainless steel alloy, they don't need to be pinched, and they suppo

ly make better noise than other sinkers. As a personal preference, I would use a link between the hook and line. It is a lot easier to switch/ change hooks/ jigs with one, and it provides a point to attach line to the rod when in transit or storage, to prevent tangling. [

With bobbers I prefer the greenish color and orange ones opposed to the red/ white ones, but that is my personal choice and I found they work equally welll where they are needed. [

The best advice I can give is to chat with people at the lake. Chances are they will know the water pretty good.[
