A friend and I started at dawn (6:45) chucking pointers in the shallows. Fishing was great on those until about 9 am, we boating 26 cuts, including two over 24". Switched to white 4" tubes and smelly jelly at 9:30 and fished until 12:15, boated an additional 36 cuts during that time, including 3 more over the slot. Kept one 24-1/2 inch who got a treble from the pointer into the gill and tore a raker. I feel horrible about that, but better on my table than let him go belly up on the lake I guess. Jigging was best in 12-18 feet of water. Water temperature started at 48.3 according to my Lowrance, finished at 50.2, air temp 34 up to around 50. Big green wake due to the plant die off. Have fun!!

Sounds like a some fun fishin' with a lot of catchin' involved. Great report. Unfortunately I'm wrenchin' on the house every weekend trying to get some things done before winter instead of fishin'.
What "plant die off"? Sounds like an algae bloom to me. With plants containing chlorophyll, green is alive and brown is dead? Results of fall turn-over maybe? What was the water temperature?

Maybe it's a bloom instead of a die off. I have always assumed the algae was dying as winter approached, and have used it for a gauge as to when the fishing would get hot (before we had fish finders with thermometers and other fancy stuff). Definately is the fall turnover. Water temp was 48-50 degrees. Awesome stuff up there right now. I think I'll hit it again this Saturday and next Tuesday.

I am leaving in the morning for Strawberry. I don't get to fish it but once or twice a year so I don't know the hot spots. Would you consider letting me in on where to go so I don't spend most of the day chasing my tail? Thanks,

The meadows is always a good bet this time of year. Trolling black wooley buggers, trolling or throwing white tubes, or vertical jigging with white tubes.

] Is the "Green Wave", not Tulane Univ., a plant die off or bloom? I always get 
. Great report! I hope to go up there on Friday, if possible. Maybe some of these fish will be there under hard water. We can only hope.
