4 new "Rock Piles" for Bear Lake
#1
[cool][#0000ff]Article in the Outdoors section of the Tribune this morning about getting some new "fish and fisherman concentrators" near the marina on Bear Lake. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Bryce Nielson is heading up a project to make 4 separate new spawning structure rock piles in about 30 feet of water, each about 200 yards away from the others. Since that pond is pretty barren of such structure on the west side, it should be a real draw for the fishies.[/#0000ff]

Great news! They don't mention in the article when they plan on doing this? I also hope they put the rocks at a 30' depth at current lake levels.

[cool][#0000ff]I also wondered about the "when". The best I could come up with was that it is likely to be soon. Money is always the big hangup and that is now done.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]"[#000000]Nielson attempted to get the project funded through state habitat dollars, but it was rejected. Money finally came from the state's Blue Ribbon Fisheries program." [/#000000]

Sounds like a very worthy project. I don't think it will be very easy though.
