We will be downrigging and jigging on the DEVIL BOAT at Fish Lake next week. We have always done well there trolling for Rainbows, but want to target something a little bigger this trip. Any tips for Macs, Splake, or Browns?
Specific information on Lures, Color, Location, Time of day, etc are appreciated. I will post our detailed report when we get back. Thanks for your input.

I can't give you the info that some of the guys can about Fish lake but I do know that a lot of the guys fish along the weed line for perch. After they catch a few for bait they move out to the deeper water and jig for lake trout. Pikeman spends a lot of time at Fish lake, if he doesn't answer this post or you don't hear some good info you could always PM him. Good luck on your trip. WH2

If you want to get into the splake either hit the north side on the edge of the weed beds out from the little outhouse and use a small glow chartreuse head with a little perch or sucker meat hooked to it and you will catch them. You can also score lots of splake at the rockslide, but be ready to lose jigs. The splake are usually close to the bottom and the rainbows are usually down about 10-15 ft suspended. The best person to ask is Pikeman, but he is hard to get ahold of, but one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

My wife is from Bicknell, so I've spent a fair amount of time at Fish Lake. My best has been using fairly large lake trolls right on bottom with the biggest red-side shiner you can find about 8" behind the end of the trolls. I use Digitrolls so holding bottom is not a problem. I fish at .9 mph with my Digitroll set to -2 to account for blowback, the net result being my blades are spinning in the mud. We last fished there in early-August and caught 7 macs in the morning, the biggest around 10 lb. Start EARLY, like be on the water in the dark waiting until there is enough light to see if your getting a hit. We caught 6 of our 7 before 10 AM, course it was alot warmer then.
