Strawberry this weekend
#1
I am taking a group of scouts up to the "Berry" this weekend. I have only fished the berry once before and was wondering if any body on here had any advice on how to make this a successful trip for them. Any places to try around the Main Marina and what is working for trolling, jigging. Any help would be appreciated.

[#ff4040]Everybody else on the board has been saying that jigging at the berry is very effective. I don't get out there that often, but I'm pretty sure the rest of the guys on the board can tell you more.[/#ff4040]

I took the scouts up a couple of weekends ago. We went on the soldier creek side and went on the shoreline trail. We went in maybe 1 1/2 to 2 miles and found a nice rock point. We did real well dead drifing minnows and the fish were all in the 18-22 in range. We also caught tons of crawdads which is always a good activity for the boys.

We camped up in the trees from were we fished since I hate campground, plus we did not have to pay a cent.

Good luck and if you need more info send me a PM i would love to give you more info if your interested.

[Smile] Sorry this report is late. But the weekend with the scouts was successfull. Thank you for your tips. We had a few that wanted to spend the night friday so we braved the upper teen to lower 20 degree weather. All stayed warm, which is always a problem with scouts. Met up with the rest of the group at the marina and launched 4 boats full of scouts. Headed over to hawes point and did really well. We used the white tube jigs w/ worm and long lined some deep diving silver minnow rapalas. the biggest fish caught was 23" and every boat got 15-20 fish. We let all but 3 fish go tho live and be caught another day. I am headed up there this weekend for some "me" time fishing. I hope to do as well. Say hi if you see me I will be in a mustard yellow 14 foot seastar around hawes point again. Sorry no pics was to worried about forgetting my -20 degree mummy bag that i forgot the camera. Will try to remember it this weekend though.

Sounds like a great time with the scouts; however, with your user name, not sure if we can believe any of your reports (LOL).[Wink]
