Pettingill Retires

Tom has had a big impact on Willard's fishing history. I wonder if he will still be much a part of it's future now that he has retired.[/size][/black][/font]

From what I understand, Tom's moving to Texas. Despite losing Tom, the UDWR Aquatic section is losing quite a few individuals to retirement. I guess they did there time and now it is their time to enjoy the resources they helped manage. Boy, do I wish it was me []!

You can thank house bill 213 for the brain drain. It's happening in almost every state agency.

There are a number of outstanding people retiring. I know Jeff Grandison is calling it quits. He is as good as it gets. Jeff used yo be in the northern region. He was responsible for transplants. Like the ptarmigan, bighornns, and mountain goats in the Uintas. Moose all over the state. People like Pettingill and Grandison are hard to replace. I think we all owe them for making our experiences in the outdoors that much better. I hope I get a chance to thank them personally. gshorthair

That's a tough loss for the state and its fisheries. I'm sure it is the best decision for them, and I hope they really enjoy themselves. A big thanks to them and all of their hard work.

I applaud him for the work that he has done, he is leaving some big shoes to fill, i hope that his replacement will work as hard as he did to bring diversity to utah and not make it just a trout state again

Hooked was having trouble in the beginning getting the ability to sell licenses. One call to Him and problem solved !! Cut right through the bureaucracy.

As a sportsman, loosing both of those guys just stinks! I've only met Tom twice but from that and in reading what he has done, I don't see anyone who is currently at the division even coming close to filling those shoes. I am really sorry to see Jeff Grandison go as well. I've known him and his wife for the past seven years and I could not speak more highly of any two people outside of my own family. Absolutely superb people! From a personal perspective though, I wish both Tom and Jeff all the best. They both deserve a great retirement.
