Ice on
#1
So lets keep some sort of talley on what has ice. I know i'm not the only one anxiously waiting for ice on some lakes closer to the SLC valley. I hit Huntington Saturday and the fishing was stellar but it is a bit of a drive and gas hog.

Add to the list as you find out, dont be sticklers. Smile

Well I'm sure you can add Fairview Lake to the list too . With the Temps today at strawberry it wont take too long . Here is a site with some temps Statewide [url "http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/slc/avalanche/snotel/"]CLICK HERE [/url]. Looks good for ice on if we can hold these temps for a week or 2 .

[cool]Saturday at Hunington was fun indeed, bro! Tonight (Sunday) it's supposed to drop all the way down to TEN degrees here in the SL Valley, so I'm guessing 10 below zero at places like Strawberry, Scofield, East Canyon, etc. I'm thinking the 'berry will have a couple[Wink] of safe locations in a week or probably two max. But, let's not disclose to the entire board and hundreds of lurkers EXACTLY where those couple of spots are. I hope that Rockperch freezes earlier than late January like last year, that's for sure!

Things are looking really good right now though! I'm thinking two-three weeks and we should have quite a few more options that are closer to the Wasatch Front to hit the hard deck.

[cool]24 hour MAXIMUM temp at Strawberry is 18.9 degrees! Gotta love it! That's what I call ice making weather! Bet the water temp isn't in the low 40's there anymore like last week! Here's the link:

Hey Ron, any size to the fish these days in Cleveland Reservoir? When I was a teenager we used to catch nice fish out of Fairview, and Cleveland. Electric Lake wasn't even built and Huntington was much smaller and was drained dry every year.

last winter i hit cleveland 1 time and spent 5 hrs ice fishing it.
i seen 2 fish on the finder and cought them 2 fish and that was it.. but the 2 fish i did catch were nice football fatty's in the 18" and 19" size..

i'v heard of some nice fish comeing out of fairview lakes last summer as well.. but i dont pay to park up there so i will not fish it if i have to pay..

yeah i to rember when jonhson's res now huntington was a mud pudle most the year as well..

i'm sure if someone want to find new ice there is ice on potters ponds, grassy lake, millers flat, blue lake and some of the other high lakes.. with the storms that just came through tho you'll need a snowmobile to get to them..
