Ok,
I am going to get my father in-law a fish finder for Christmas. I got $100+ bucks and he only fishes, trolls, Steinaker, Matt Warner and Red Fleet.
GPS is out of the question cause if he gets lost on any one of these waters, I'm taking his boat away.
Opinions are like,,,,,,,,,, elbows so what is a decent finder for a $100?
Thanks, EW

Good luck for $100.00
I did just get an Eagle320 at Sportsman's for $150.00 Closeout price!
It is very nice and they like it over several other models that they sell at SW.
The units around $100.00 don't hold up and have little warrenty.

I agree. Those Eagle portable units are terrific, priced right, and can be used on a boat, float tube, or on the ice. Can't go wrong!

Quit being so cheap and purchase your father-in-law the latest greatest colored fish finder, that with the touch of a button will also play his latest CD. After all, remember you owe him everything for the wonderful wife he gave you!

I guess your right. If I give him an expensive fish finder then maybe she'll let me go fishing more often.

If you do want to stay with the 100$ price the eagle cudas 128 or 168 although really basic work awfully darn well for what they are. I have used a cuda 128 for my pontoon for a couple of years and it works great,

That is a good price for the 320. Well worth the investment, but like Jed said the cuda's are pretty good, as well as the lower end Garmins.

The Eagles are good for 98% of what you want a finder to do, but I went through my last one in 2 1/2 years. My humminbird crashed and burned in about the same time, but the Eagle was far superior in function. They give you 2 good seasons and then they go bad. Starts with the transducer cable at one of the ends and goes from there. Of course I use my finder 30-40 times a year on ice, tubes, and boats. If you want quality, I'm not sure which one the buy.

I have had my eagle for 5 years and it shows no sign of giving up.
For $150.00 - $165.00 the eagle 320 would be a good unit to get into for the money.
