no doubt, anglers are getting on the smaller lakes sheltered from the wind with no movin water and no springs.

I spent most of the day looking around my lake, best ice I found was 2 inches ice and 4 inches slush.... It is as dangerous as dating a witches sister out there.... I stepped though only twice...

remember there is no such thing as safe ice....

where abouts are you fishing at? you doing any good, I found two fish the whole day...

not too bad here. one of my locals has 7-9 solid in the honey holes.enough that the warm-up wont affect it much. im planning to fish right through the weekend to see how my yukon holds in the weather. other wise some to most lakes have 4" plus in most spots though i would not take machines out yet.

In my area , central Mi .
Sugar Springs has had fishable ice for a month now 5" to 7".

Ross lake ice is not too stable , snow and winds from the west have made spongey ice , most shantys are close to shore and in the small coves .

Wixom lake has fishable ice and the hot spot for big gills is muddy bay . fishing is steady with limits of gills and crappie within 4 hours .

im getting limits on gills in 1-2 hours over here. early morning and evenings before 6pm. looking foward to a quiet weekend on the lake . no wife,no kids and no family close enough to screw up the quietest day out all year. hope everybody has a MERRY CRISTMAS and a great holiday season. see you bum's on the hard water!!!

well my lake is a wash out, it dosnt take much here. 2 inches of ice with 4 inches of slush has reverted to about 3 inches of spung ice.

hopefuly your lake will fair better since you had 7 inches...

any thing that had 4 inches is now a suicide run....

good luck to you, and to every one else stay off the ice... Its not the report I wanted to give, but the right one.... Have a safe Holiday and not a sorrowfull one...

Not has the warm front taken out the safe ice but my phone lines as well . Hopefully this repair will last more than a few months .

Safe ice isn't around here either . On the way to the mall for some last minute shopping every lake I passed was covered in slush and water . seems the only ice around is on the dirt roads making all ice in my area unsafe .

I saw one wood shanty on the lake last night, I imagin he is scaired to touch it right now,

did you see the news tonight? 6 cars went though the ice today, the news reported it cost them $1,000 little ones each to get pulled out, not counting getting towed to a garage for repairs.

Hey Hey Hey , I'm back on again !
The Telephone repair guy had to come out again . Freese , thaw , freese ,thaw , the lines just can't take it .
Lakes are still showing ice under the water , nothing I would venture out on even with a a double dog dare .
A.M. road conditions are black ice all the way , driving feels like your boating along with a anchor draging behind you .
There is minimal shelf ice along the rivers near Tippy , at the Foote Dam you can fish from the walkway but there is shelf ice below the first bend .
Singing bridge has some steel and browns holding with a few walleyes to keep you guessing about what just hit your bait , oh yea , shelf ice too .
The oscoda pier is getting some walleye and chanel cats about 45 minutes after dark . bring a bag of sand if your headed out on the pier , it's pretty slippery .
No news from the tawas pier , or from the pentwater pier .
I guess we could go bunny hunting till the ice comes back in .
