Ladders?
#1
Did anyone fish the ladders over the weekend? Planning a trip and looking for conditions. Any info would be great. Thanks.

4 of us went to the ladders yesterday, monday the 26 and we caught very few. All together we ened up catching 10. We fished from about 8:30 am to 2 pm. Very slow. Every one we could see wasn't even catching anything. We drilled a ton of holes, about 40. There wasn't really anything that would come through on the fish finder. We were fishing out from everyone else in about 40 feet of water. Maybe next time we will do better. I hope you do catch some fish, and the ice was close to 10 in. thick.

Thanks for the reply! Is the parking fee still 4$? Also I am taking snowmobiles. How is the snow in that area? Thanks again for the help.

There was a post awhile back that said parking was free this winter at Strawbeery. it also had a link to the newspaper article

Fished near the ladder on 12/26/05 with slow results. Iced only 9 slotters between 3 of us. I missed quite a few bites, so I could have ended up with 8 or so, but only caught four. Small silver tubes tipped with wax worms were the ticket for us. fished from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. In depths from 20-45 feet.

AT THE LADDERS LOOK ACROSSED TO THE ISLAND ITS ABOUT 1/4 MILE AWAY. WALK OVER TO IT AND FISH THE SECOND POINT FROM THE SOUTH END. THE NOLES ARE THE SPOT TO FISH. LITLE HUMPS ALL OVER OUT THERE. WORTH THE WALK.... TONS OF FISH CRUISE THIS AREA.

I believe the parking is free, and the drive into the parking lot was nice we drove a car in, just a little ice, but it might be different now since it snowed. Most of the fish we did catch were under the slot so we took home 4 and let the rest free. I have fished by this island a few times. We seem to catch fish there, but not a ton.

good luck,
