Kokanee at Strawberry
#1
Is there anyone out there that knows how to catch Kokanee through the ice. If so where do you find them and how do you fish for them? By the way fishing monday was not as good as friday. But it was still nice.

Just like at Causey they will come through in schools. I only caught one last year through the ice I think, but I never targeted them. A few years back some friends and I decided to try hard for them. We went looking in deeper water.... 60 to 70'. We did get into them very well one trip. They were suspended at about 45 to 50', over 75' of water. We were all the way on the other side of Strawberry bay..... to the south east I think. We caught them jigging very agressively using foxy jigs and kastmasters. We weould tip the foxy jigs with a wax worm. I think the key is the agressive jigging. Kokanee don't actuallu eat worms or minnows... they eat zoo plankton, so you kinda have to piss them off to enduce a strike.

Hope this helps.
