I guess by now everyone knows whats going on at Rockport, but I will post anyway. Parked just before the 3rd bathroom at the turnout up on the hill above the rock out cropping. Trail down not too bad (just one hairy part), but open water all around the ice. Had to climb out to the end of the furthest rocks to get on the ice. The ice was very noisy, but still 5+" thick. Lots of people, but I was almost the furthest North. Kind of slow, but most people catching. I was able to get five up in about and hour and a half (actually caught all five on consecutive drops when a pile came through), then it slowed down. Wind picked up and I left before the snow flew. Most of the fish were good sized perch cauth in 43' of water.

Not sure why people refer to the 3rd restroom (three mile canyon)because of all the construction stuff piled there . Plus it is a hassle to get to the water crossing over the railing and the down the 1 to 1 cliff . You sound like you are talking 2nd restroom parking is more like it . Yes down from the rock out cropping is some open water . Why anyone would want to go down that cliff area is beyond me . Last week people would throw rocks to bust it up because it was opening up . Water level looked like it dropped about a foot so the edges were getting soft . We need to hook up and tag team those perch . Nasty weather may keep me close to home this weekend , so I might do Rockport this weekend .

[cool]Randy, BassAckward and I will be out there at 6:30 Monday. It's supposed to snow, so I might take the dad in law's ice shelter. We'll be in the same general area as last Saturday's action was drilling for those perchies. Can't wait to try out my new fishfinder.
