Fished from 1 to 5pm today. Catching was fairly steady for medium bluegil. Small ice-flys with waxies or mealies. No trout today...has anyone had much success with the trout here>>>> where and how? Oh several inches of slush today too!

[cool]Nice report, cf77. How thick was the ice? I'm guessing that if you got into the gills, that you were probably fishing near where our former moderator usually fishes (NorthEast side)?? Seems like the gills don't bite (or aren't there) at the area in front of the boat ramp during ice on. I need to get up there again before ice off.

When I was there at Mantua last week, I caught a real nice sized bluegill near the docks. It was the only fish I caught that day, but it was a dandy for a bluegill.
Made it back out there yesterday with my 9 yr old, and we both only caught one perch (at exactly the same time). Mine was small, his was a monster perch...probably full of eggs. This was out toward the middle of the lake, and it was slushy with some snow. My boy entertained himself by making a couple of snow men right there near the docks.
