[cool][#0000ff]I am in the process of rewriting my book on Tubing and Tooning. During the little "discussion" we just had on potential "call of nature" problems, I did a copy and paste of some of the verbiage from that part of my chapter on Problems On The Water. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]It occured to me that some readers might like to see bits and pieces, here and there, on some of the other things I am covering in the book. The first one I'll post up here is on Basic Safety. [/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]Hi Johan, glad to see you are surviving the winter over there. I am looking forward to seeing some reports of you fishing in your new pontoon. I just got a Fish Cat Cougar pontoon and will be fixing it up with an electric motor soon. Would you like to come over and go water skiing?[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]About the book. I am working every day on a total rewrite. There have been so many changes in the industry, and so many new tubing experiences in my life, since my last edit in 1992, that I decided to start fresh. So far, I am happy with how it is going. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]My goal is to finish the writing before the middle of 2006 and to have the first printing out by September. Hopefully it will be a popular Christmas present. Of course I will personally autograph every copy that goes out to BFT members. Big deal. That will probably reduce the value.[/#0000ff]

Hi TD:
How about " Whenever possible, do not go tubing alone. If you must go tubing alone let someone know where you will be, and how long you intend to be there."
Also, how about a warning on the use of alcohol and tubes. Anytime you are out on or near the water while intoxicated, you put your self in harms way. I cannot count the number of times I have seen people get themselves in dangerous situations while on watercraft of any type due to intoxication. Not that I'm saying one cannot have an alcoholic beverage while tubing. Instead, I am suggesting just a reminder on moderation due to the dangers of drowning, reduced reaction time, and poor judgment that can accompany over indulgence. Just a thought.

[cool][#0000ff]Good points, for any kind of fishing, but especially for tubing. Although you are probably safer in a float tube than in some boats, you should still not take chances.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I have tubed alone many times, not because I am reclusive but because it is sometimes tough to get a tubing partner. TubeBabe goes most of the time, but not always. Good idea to have potential help when and if an unsolvable problem should occur.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I will go a bit stronger on the alcohol thing. I believe you should save the celebrating for after you are home, and not imbibe while on the water. Besides creating more frequent calls of nature, it does impair your physical ability and your judgment. Better to have fun "naturally" while on the water and then let er rip after you are safely at home.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Good contribution.[/#0000ff]

[cool]And if you're not safer than in a boat, at least the other people on the water are safer. Not much danger getting run over by a drunk tuber. But then again, once Tubedude gets his new toon fitted with his turbo jet engine we might all be in danger, even if he is sober.

[cool][#0000ff]Sorry, Z, no turbo jet engine for me. I got beat out on e-Bay by some guy from the middle east.[/#0000ff]

Can't wait for the book, not just because it'll be from a guy with a tremdous amount of experience but it will also be the ONLY tubing book out there - at least to my knowlege.

[cool][#0000ff]Thanks for the kindly words. Actually, there are quite a few books on tubing. But, the only ones I know of are very one dimensional. They are either about bass or trout. And, they are usually about fly fishing.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]My book will cover all species, all waters and all tackle. Not many (if any) other tubers have had the privilege of taking tubes to all of those waters and species, as I have. I hope to help others see new dimensions and to learn more about their favorites.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I am working on the new and improved version every week. I am personally pleased with the way the restructured book is going. Hopefully, everybody else will be too.[/#0000ff]

While we are talking about a book, I just got one in the mail from my brother this pass Friday. I didn't want to open the mail until tonight. (Because my birthday is tomorrow!) It's a nice book called "That Big Fat Musky Book" by Eli Singer. It's really a fat book with 664 pages with Eli's signing on it to me! I thought about yours would it be that many too? This book is a great one to read just as you're saying on the tubing board!

[cool][#0000ff]Happy birthday and congratulations on scoring a nice book. Be sure to study it. There will be a test...on the water. If you pass, you get to catch more and bigger muskies. Maybe we don't recommend you try to catch them from your tube.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I am not sure how many pages my book will be yet. Besides how many pages I actually write, it depends on the formatting, the page size of the book itself, the number of pictures I include and a few other things. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]In my revision, I am trying to cut out a lot of the personal narrative and story telling and keeping it to solid information and instruction. That will help keep down both the size and the price. I do not want the book to be something that the average tuber cannot afford.[/#0000ff]
