Decided to try some open water fishing for some bows since i havent had any luck on the ice last couple of times i have gone.Didnt look good as i got to the north side because it was iced over!As i kept driving and past the park entrance there was open water. So i went over to the dam and man what a surprise!I have never seen the water that high in the 8 years i have lived in utah. The water is inches from the top of the spillway. Its about 5 feet from touching the bridge by the dam.I only had to walk down a bit to get to the water.I fished for an hour by the dam moving around from spot to spot.I got 2 chasers but no bites.I guess they took one look at my ugly mug and got scared! [sly]I also headed over to the park and there was 4 powerbaiters fishing at the boat ramp.Between the 4 they had 2 nice bows. Most of the lake is frozen over except for the dam side.Dont know how deep the ice because i didnt take my auger with me.Thought about using my old rock auger but i was kinda cold.

[cool][#0000ff]Sounds like a bit more ice than when I drove by a couple of weeks ago. That water really is high. The perch should spawn well this year. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I'll bet the ice out fishing for the trout will be good at the north end. Don't know if I will be able to fit that into my walleye schedule though. Are you about ready to meet up down at LB for some serious stuff? Gotta get you guys in a tube this year.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]Good thinking on the show. They had some great prices last year. There should be some new models on display this year. I will be looking them over too. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I just got a pontoon, but I want to "field test" some new models as they come out. I can always use an extra tube or two, with family or tubin' newbie wannabees that need to try before they buy. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I'm guessing that Sam will not want to get out of her tube once she is launched. Be sure to get her fixed up with a PFD and the right size fins and all. I will be happy to help with the initial setup when you are ready.[/#0000ff]
