pumphouse, lake side
#1
Better make reservations if you plan to fish the pump house from the shore. After work I grabbed my poles, waders, and minnows and headed out. When I walked up to the channel I said "beeeeep!!" I couldn't believe how high the water was. There is enough room for maybe five people side by side, the rest was covered in water.
That was pretty neat, but I was headed to where it opens up to the lake. The trail I usually follow was under water and usually next to where it "drops off". To be on the safe side I took a trail that was farther back in the reeds. I'm glad there's no alligators in there because I was doing some bushwackin'. The water started at my knees and about 300' later when I made it to the open water it was above my waist.
I found out I must have worn a hole from sitting in my kickboat. Not a problem though, I caught my first walleye of the year and forgot about everything else. I released it thinking I wasn't going to catch anymore and maybe give him a chance to meet some ladies. That was the only one. One more hit on a grub at dusk and my toes were freezing. I meant to bring my camera, but forgot, good thing because I set my backpack on a clump of reeds and it rolled into the water. I'm rambling because I'm excited, but next time I'm taking my 'toon or the boat.

Hmmm,, right now it sounds to me as if the best place to fish the lake side of the pumps would be the knolls. [laugh]

I wish I could brag about how big he was, all of 11 inches of him. It will soon be time to take down the toon. To reply to BassAckwards I would love to go anytime, not a bad walk without a toon, about a 5-6 minute huff with it balanced on your shoulder. Seems like a half-mile sometimes, but worth it.

Cool I am lookig forward to showing me how to lug my toon down there.I have walked there many of times just not with a toon. The other issue is do you dring your battey and trolling motor or not ? Can you take a wheel barrel down in that area? Anyways looking forward to fishing with you

A wheelbarrel is a pretty good idea. I wish I would of thought of that. Just proves that strength isn't everything...sometimes you need a little finesse[crazy] I never bring my motor with me because it would be more than one trip, I'm looking for a wheelbarrel now.

[cool][#0000ff]Wheelbarrows are heavy. Check out the PVC and stroller wheel tube cart I made. Can stack two tubes and bungee them to the cart. Works great except in heavy brush. It breaks down and is light enough to drop in the storage area behind the seat after launching.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I think I will add a machete to my arsenal.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]How do you know that I don't?[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Too bad PVC is so rigid and heavy. I just know I could wrap some guides on a piece and have me a fishin' pole. Then again, since it is a tube, maybe I could just run the line up the middle. Back to the workbench.[/#0000ff]

You should get some stock in PWEagle, local PVC pipe extrusion factory. You could even be a company rep.[Tongue] I think you can get some PVC blocks to lift that up and some 8" spinner rims would be pretty neat. But anyways, anyone know if you can launch a boat at AF boat harbor?

[cool][#0000ff]The last I heard was that it was closed, and a sign that read "Closed until April" or something like that. Not too far off.[/#0000ff]
